在美國，幾乎家家都有地毯。
偏偏，在美國最大的怪異就是『老美都不脫鞋，直接將外出鞋大剌剌的踩進室內』。
這究竟是什麼原因，到現在還莫宰羊中。（如果有誰知道由來，請來告訴我）
話說人總是有第一次，『第一次』請工人來家裡配裝 Cable。
工人準時的出現在我們家門口，確認過後不囉說的就直接要求打開車庫門讓他好進出。
不一會功夫，室外的工作完成了 .... 工人敲門示意『他要進入屋內』。
結果！他腳踩著類似馬丁鞋的大鞋，就這樣毫不客氣的踩在『九成新』的地毯上。
我『哇哇哇』的一邊指著他的腳，一邊指著我的光腳丫子。
他『鎮定』看著我比手畫腳，一邊還在看線路圖。
一整個下來，他用他的超級大髒鞋在我家與外頭『進進出出』將近六趟。
完工之後，工人要我簽名確認，還問我對他的施工服務滿意嗎？
我不客氣的說：非常的不滿意。
工人驚訝的問：請問是哪一部分？ （我馬上指著他腳上的兩隻鞋）
還嘰哩咕嚕的說：你怎麼可以把髒鞋穿進我家來？你為什麼不把鞋子脫掉？
工人嚴肅的回：這腳上的鞋子是我的『工作鞋』，用來保護我的雙腳一旦在施工過程中受傷。(註1)
經過這次，我才『學會』工作鞋對施工者的重要性。
只不過，我還是不懂為什麼老外在家非得要穿外出鞋，搞的家裡的地毯髒的跟什麼一樣？
說到這，老外朋友也問：為什麼亞洲人在家都打赤腳，不喜歡穿鞋子？
（好問題。有誰可以回答老外的問題）

美國的工作意外事故理賠，其中必須要先符合工安規定。
假如是自己的缺失，雇主和保險公司可不必負責與理賠。
那工人的鞋子 (1) 是保護腳被壓傷 (2) 是防止被電到，亦表示鞋子是可絕緣的。

Of course you can ask your guests to take their shoes off in your house but builders? leaningYou don't want to be sued if there is something bad happens and also builders have to walk in and out so often, you would rather to pay to housekeepers ( or clean by yourself) instead of asking them to delay construction on putting on and taking off shoes. The labor expense is much more for c expense. The other side not about builders, I think Americans wear shoes in houses cause the temporature is much lower than Taiwan. They are trying to keep feet warm so they get used to wear shoes in house. Anyway, it depends.

我身邊土生土長的美國人是說脫了鞋光著腳在別人家地上走很不自在 我目前遇到過亞洲國家的人(日本, 台灣, 還有印度等)都有客人要進門脫鞋的規定 要是進我家的話我也會希望客人能脫鞋...因為外面真的很髒... 文化差異囉...
